Good Radio

March 5, 2008

I have told you from my previous post that i enjoy listening to The Morning Rush by Chico & Del every Mondays thru Fridays, at 6-9am. And about a few months back, i started frequency surfing every morning at about the same time as Chico & Del’s radio show to Magic 89.9’s Good times with Mo (and Mojo jojo / Grace Lee). Sometimes, i wouldn’t even realize that i have been listening more to Good Times than the Morning Rush. Hehehe… medyo balimbing ako sa dalawang show na to on radio. Ang talagang inaabangan ko lang naman ksi sa morning rush is yung Top 10 nila (where listeners will text in their entries to their topic of the day) and yung News at 17. Yung Good times kasi, they give extravagant prizes. Like they give laptops like candies! Or a few thousand worth of GC’s. Or floor or VIP tickets to Maroon 5 / Incubus / Beyonce concerts. Nakakatuwa din yung mga games nila kasi kakaiba. Like yung YABANG MO! where you will kiss Mo’s ass for a minute. If Mo thinks you’re a good ass kisser, he will give you a really cool prize. Basta masaya. And just today, i stumbled upon PinoyExchange a thread about Tado, Erning (AKA Angel) and Ramon Bautista’s new radio show! (new, atleast for me). I missed their Strangebrew days which aired at UNTV back in the old days and i’m so happy to know that they have their own radio show! I’ve been listening just now and sobrang laughtrip talaga. I am not really sure if their humor is for everybody but i’ve been a fan of them eversince kaya parang part na ko ng kulto nila hahahahaha…. basta, kung lafftrip with a combination of intelligent discussions for the  illiterate (LOLZ) (as what they always say) ang hanap mo, ito ang radio show para sa inyo. Masaya. Brewster airs at 99.5 Hit FM Mondays thru Thursdays, 9pm – 12mn.

You can already tell na i’m a more talk less music type of a person, no?

Dumbest Things You’ve Ever head Anyone Say

February 17, 2008

I am an avid listener of RX 93.1’s Morning Rush (by Chico and Del) for years now and have been enjoying their TOP 10 (whatevers) and have personally liked the one i’m going to share with you below as this cracked me up while driving my way to work (some drivers might have thought i’m crazy because i’m laughing my ass off alone in the car!). Ewan ko na lang kung di kayo matawa dito.

  1. An Eat Bulaga contestant was asked by Joey and Vic: “Ano sa Tagalog ang grasshopper?” Contestant: “Ahmm. . .Huling Hapunan?”
  2. It was an ex-PBB housemate (1st batch) who said this (i think this was Cass): “Big Brother, ginagawa po nila ako laughing stuff…”
  3. In Wowowee, the question was: “Kung ang ’sigaw’ ay ’shout’ sa Inggles, ano naman sa Tagalog ang ‘whisper’?” The contestant answered: “Napkin!”
  4. While watchng the news yesterday about a kid killed by a bulldozer, our maid commented: “Kaya ayoko mag-alaga ng aso eh…”
  5. My friend and I were walking up the stairs of our schools new bldg. She said out of nowhere: “Imagine mo kung di ginawa ‘tong bldg, umaakyat tayo sa hangin?”
  6. My cousin at a DRIVE-THRU: “Miss, puwedeng take out?”
  7. Nadia Montenegro promoting her movie: “Please watch ‘The Life Story of Julie Vega’, opening na po on the twenty-twoth of November.”
  8. In a burger joint I heard a man say: “Miss, isa ngang ‘amusing’ aloha at saka ‘kidney’ meal.” Server: “Dine in po ba or to go?” The man answered: “Ayoko ng sago!”
  9. I was making cookies at home when I ran out of cookie sheets, so I called our maid and said: “Manang bili ka nga ng cookie sheet.” And she replied: “Ano po, solo o litro?” (coke is it)
  10. My friend said: “Ang galing ‘no, yung Ash Wednesday last year , Miyerkules din pumatak!”
  11. A non-Christian vendor selling a Last Supper painting: “Ma’am bili po kayo ng frame, maganda po ito, ‘Hesus and Company.”
  12. While watching “Apollo 13″, after she heard the line: “Houston, we have a problem.” My ex-girlfriend asked: “Sino si Houston?”
  13. My aunt was going to the US for the 1st time. She told us: “Nagpapabili ang tita niyo ng ‘autistic’ guitar. Saan ba nakakabili nun?”
  14. We were marketing for an org event, when one of my orgmates wanted to clear the definition of the types of sponsors (Major, Minor, Patron, etc.) So she asked her grandma: “Lola, anong mas mataas sa Patron?” Her lola replied: “Patron? Eh di Shell!”
  15. Also in a gameshow. Host: “Ano sa Tagalog ang ‘teeth’?” Contestant: “Utong!”
  16. I once heard an emcee say: “Let’s give her a warm of applause!”
  17. One classmate in highschool said, “Ang cute naman ng sintas mo, luminou!” I corrected him and said, “luminous!” Then he replied, “Oo nga pala, plural!”
  18. Barker ng bus: Ah Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao, Cubao!!!” Pasahero: “Boss, Cubao?”
  19. Sa isang gameshow, tinanong ng host: “Anong ‘P’ ang Tagalog ng ’storey’ o ‘floor’ ng building?” Contestant: “PIP PLOR!”
  20. An officemate of ours told us a story about driving alone in her car: “Alam niyo, pag nag-iisa ako, feeling ko…wala akong kasama…”
  21. I had a customer on the line who had a password on his account. I asked for the password but he forgot. I gave him a clue: “It’s a 4-digit number.” He answered, “Uhm…’ROCKY’?”
  22. I overheard a lady place an order at Starbucks: “One cup of chino please.”
  23. An officemate once asked: “Saan sa Quezon City ang Mandaluyong?”
  24. I had a meeting with a friend and I noticed that both of us were wearing stripes. He suddenly blurted out: “Uy, stripes din! It’s the color of the day!”
  25. My sister said of our neighbor who was our arch enemy: “Mamatay na sana kapitbahay natin!” I told her not to say that, coz it might bounce back to us. Then she said, “Ah ganun ba yun? In that case, mamatay na sana tayo!”
  26. When I saw that I got a missed call, I said, “Hey, I got a missed call!” My friend said, “Anong sabi?”
  27. From the gameshow “The Weakest Link”. Host Edu Manzano asked: “Anong ‘T’ ang ibinibigay ng konduktor pag nagbayad ka ng pamasahe sa bus?” Ian Veneracion answered: “TUKLI!”
  28. We were reviewing for an exam and we were already dead tired. A classmate said, “Hala, brownout!” Pagtingin namin, nakapikit pala siya.
  29. A call center agent told a foreign customer regarding the changing of the due date of her credit card: “Ma’am, I already changed your monthly period.”
  30. A home economics teacher asked us: “How do you make wet floor and tow duff?” Translation: “How do you make wheat flour and tough dough”.
  31. During a shower party for my friend, the married women were giving tips on the do’s & dont’s of sexual intercourse, when the bride asked: “Hindi ba kasama yung betlog sa pinapasok?”
  32. Melanie Marquez: “Ang tatay ko lang ang only living legend na buhay pa.”
  33. Melanie Marquez: (while defending her brother Joey during the Kris-Joey brouhaha) Do not judge my brother, he is not a book!

the aftermath

January 29, 2008

i am having a heath aftermath.

i have been searching every video and music store for a DVD copy of “Brokeback Mountain” (which i haven’t seen yet) and lahat sila, walang stock!. i’ve been reading about heath’s awesome acting here and i wanna see it. Richard didn’t want to watch it when it was shown here back in 2006 (?) coz it’s a “gay movie” daw. but anyways, i still want to see it.

hanggang ngayon nalulungkot pa din ako. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh…. ang daming tributes honoring him as a great actor, i never realized na he was very respected by his co-actors and directors and actually everyone who had the chance to have worked with him.

anyways, if anyone can direct me to anyone who knows where i can buy an original dvd of Brokeback (in the Philippines), it will be greatly appreciated.

wala ka magawa?

January 26, 2008

while sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles. Now, while doing this, draw the number “6” in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction and there’s nothing you can do about it.

promise.

R.I.P. Heath

January 25, 2008

heath.jpgThis is the only hollywood death that really affected me so much. I loved him in 10 things i hate about you and A knight’s tale, and i am super excited to see him play as The Joker in the upcoming film The Dark Knight. Until now i still can’t believe that one of my favorite hollywood actor is dead. Call me shallow i don’t care. I believe he’s one of the few actors who has really shown depth in acting. I mean when he acts, he’s really into his character. That’s what probably caused his death. I mean he had trouble sleeping after filming “I’m not there” and “The Dark Knight” coz those characters are, according to Heath, “very stressful”. What’s all the more tragic is his death might be accidental drug overdose. Haaaayyyy kawawa naman her beautiful 2 year old kid, Matilda.

May he rest in peace.

the Negros holiday

January 23, 2008

My parents in law are so giddy with excitement as we told them that we’ll be spending the Christmas Holidays in their hometown, La Castellana, Negros Occidental. This will only be the 2nd time that they will see their first apo, Gabby. The first time was during Gabby’s baptismal. We left Manila via Negros Navigation on December 21. We booked a Business Class ticket. We had it so cheap coz i bought the ticket early. Parang i only spent around P6k for 3 adults, round trip (and Business Class pa). Let me just make kwento on my experience with Negros Navigation. At first medyo natatakot ako na something might go wrong with my booking ksi parang the price is too good to be true. But luckily naman, the room was ok. Although medyo luma na yung barko. Malinis rin naman. The Business Class in NN’s St. Joseph vessel is good for 4 persons. Bale 2 double beds (mini double beds actually hehehe). We had the room all by ourselves (me, Richard, yaya and gabby) kasi the 4th person to book it transferred to another room (to our delight hehehe). Mahirap din kasi na may ibang kasama sa room especially na malikot si gabby, and madalas magising sa gabi. Before boarding the vessel, we spent 2 hours waiting in the VIP lounge (it has couches, a dining table, and it’s airconditioned). Their VIP lounge accomodates guests who booked the Business Class, Admiral, and Suite. Nadelay for 4 hours ang aming FLOAT (LOLZ) for reasons i don’t know. Before boarding, a porter from NN will approach you para sila na magdala ng mga gamit nyo sa room (for a fee). Medyo i find this risky din kasi although we handcarried the important stuff (digicam / laptops), yung mga porter will just leave lang your things outside the room. So there is a big risk na may manakaw na bag. Luckily for us, wala namang nangyaring ganun. Nung pauwi lang kami nakulangan ng isang bag pero narecover naman kagad kasi naiwan lang ng porter sa pinaglagyan nya. The porters naman daw of NN don’t meddle with the business of other porters. So anyhoo, when we finally boarded and settled in our room, we checked out the whole ship. I won’t compare it nalang with Superferry ksi the last i tried SF is mga 10 years ago pa so talagang bago pa ang SF nun). It has a decent restaurant naman, it has a canteen, it has a store (na sobrang mahal ng bilihin), every floor has a common bathroom. Business class doesn’t have it’s own bathroom kaya medyo mahirap din, lalo na pag may bata. (We upgraded our ticket pauwi from business class to Admiral class where it has its own CR). Gabby enjoyed running around the hallways, kahit na at times e matutumba na sya dahil sa alon. Hindi naman kami nainip during the 20 hour trip.

My father in law and SIL, Cathy, picked us up at the port. They travelled pa mga 1 1/2 hours from La Castellana to Bacolod just to pick us up. Gabby’s lolo must have been really excited to see her. Since Gabby tends to be very quiet and aloof to people she meets for the first time, hindi sya kagad sumama sa lolo nya. Pero give her enough time (like mga 2 days LOLZ) at bubuntot buntot narin sya sa mga grannies nya. Every morning, they would water the plants with a hose, or walk outside to pick flowers or buy something from the sari-sari store. Since we are yayaless (as a Christmas bonus to Gabby’s yaya, we paid her trip to Negros and gave her a 2 week vacation), kami ang nagpapaligo kay gabby, nagpapakain (Gabby learned how to eat with a spoon in Negros), wash her pag may poopoo, wash her again before bedtime, prepare her milk, and magpatulog. And i’m telling you, it’s freakin’ TIRING!!! hahahah! hindi ko na kasi nagagawa yung mga yun since nagwork ako pero ok din naman. Tulungan namin kami ni Richard e. While he assigned me with the dirty stuff (wash poopoo) and magpaligo, he on the otherhand, ang nagpapatulog and nagbibihis sa kanya (complete with off lotion and powder). Pag tulog si gabby, yun naman ang pahinga namin. We would spend time watching That 70’s show series (thanks Cathy!) or play Monopoly or tinker with our laptops (we brought work!!!). The grannies find pleasure in spending time with Gabby kasi Gabby naman is so sweet and lovable. She would “bless” (or mano) everyone in the house in the morning and before bedtime, she would run like crazy around the house, she would talk and babble (complete with facial expressions) as if really having a conversation with us, she would dance, or sing (my Gabby can carry a tune, mind you! She could be the next American Idol for all we know, LOLZ), or sometimes, she could drive us all nuts dahil sa sobrang kalikutan nya. I remember during Christmas Eve, we were supposed to hear mass pero dahil she’s too kulit and maligalig that she doesn’t want to stay in one place, Richard and I had to go back home.

Gabby tried eating buntot ng lechon during New Year’s eve. There is an old superstition daw kasi na pakainin ang mga bata ng buntot ng lechon para hindi mabulol. I cooked Pesto pasta and fried chicken. Nung Christmas i prepared Carbonara (my specialty ehhehe) and mango float naman.

here are some pics i’d like to share during our 2 week vacation:

the Cocobeach experience

January 20, 2008

hello bloggers! 2008 na pala! ang tagal ko ng hindi nagbablog! mag-3 months na ! yaiks! i am a lazy blogger! anyways, there’s so much to blog about! i want to share with you how me and hubby celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary last November, 2007 (hayy this is a long overdue post na talaga). Anyways, we spent a 3-day weekend at a secluded beach in Puerto Galera. Making reservations is easy in Cocobeach. I just called their Manila office, reserved a room, deposited payments at their bank account, called again to confirm. The 3-day package includes land and boat transfers (a Cocobeach van picked us up at the Shell Station in South Luzon Expressway tapos they have their own port and boat for exclusive use of their guests), buffet breakfast, and a very nice cottage on top of a hill with a panoramic view of the beach. Here are some of the things we loved while vacationing at Cocobeach:

  • the land and boat transfers – it’s just so convenient. hindi mo na kailangang makipagsiksikan sa Batangas port.
  • pag dating mo sa resort, you will be greeted by a singing staff tapos magsasabit sila ng necklace made out of small sea shells
  • pag dating mo sa resort, they will give you complimentary buko juice, still in a buko no less!
  • pag dating mo sa resort, you will be assigned a “service family” who will assist you with your things papunta sa cottage mo, clean your room & prepare your bed, do the room service, wake up calls, laundry (for extra cost), bring you mineral water daily. they can be called upon from 6 am – 1030pm by pulling a string which is connected to their home. They have no formal hotel training, and what they offer is just simple and natural Filipino hospitality.
  • ang ganda ganda ng cottage! it’s made of natural materials, rooms have no airconditioning pero malamig! we didn’t even use their electricfan pero nakakumot pa kami!
  • the rate is reasonable.
  • there are so much things to do! there’s actually 101 activities that Cocobeach has planned out for their guests, some are free, some naman may bayad.
  • they have a silent pool which is situated on top of the hill. if you want some peace and quiet, you go here instead of the other bigger pool sa baba naman.
  • masarap ang buffet breakfast
  • they have a hanging bridge pero scary kala ko mahuhulog ako
  • because it’s secluded from the other resorts in PG, it’s peaceful.
  • we enjoyed kayaking in waves! (small waves that is lolz but still scary though)
  • we loved snorkeling (although i felt na medyo tinaga kami nung bangkero pero sige lang, ayos lang)
  • we had henna tattoos!
  • we loved our lazy walk in the beach
  • we enjoyed their big hammocks located near the shore
  • we get to watch a bloodless cockfight. some of the guests placed their bets. we didn’t. hehehe.
  • we saw dolphins on the way palang to the resort! for free! as in ang dami!!!! usually, may bayad pag mag-dolphin watching ka, pero we had the best timing e hehehe..
  • natuwa ako sa salakot. nung pauwi na kami, i asked our service family for an umbrella. tapos sabi nya they don’t use umbrella daw. you use a “salakot”. ang akala ko kasi display lang yun sa cottage, yun pala gagamitin mo talaga yun. ang cute. hehehe…
  • and syempre, the best thing i loved sa vacation namin is that i get to enjoy it with my husband (awwwwww….)

there is so much to do there (but so little time!). We will definitely be back to try other stuff like banana boat ride, more snorkeling and kayaking, or have a relaxing massage at their spa, or hire a boatman to bring us to a different island to have a romantic dinner, and much much more.

Here are some pics:

Why are Japanese so creative?

October 28, 2007

This is just awesome.

What they just did is a type of Japanese theater called Kuroko wherein participants wear all black, head to toe, in order to imply that they are invisible and not part of the action onstage.

The Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 Housemates were asked by “kuya” to do a similar skit as a presentation for their weekly task. They did good, considering the limited time they had to practice (a week), but not as well as the Japanese, but nevertheless, i was entertained. Watch it from here.

No Reservations

October 28, 2007

no-reservations-poster-0.jpg

Cast: Catherine Zeta Jones, Aaron Eckhart, Abigail Breslin

Synopsis: Kate (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is the master chef at an upscale restaurant in Manhattan. She intimidates everyone around her, so her boss sends her to therapy. Kate hates to leave the kitchen when a customer wants to compliment her on one of her special dishes, but she is ready to leave the kitchen in a second when a customer insults her cooking. Kates sister is killed in a car accident and her nine-year old daughter Zoe (Abigail Breslin) moves in with Kate. With all of Kates problems, the boss hires a new chef to join the staff. Nick (Aaron Eckhart) is a rising star in his own right and could be the head chef of another restaurant, but he wants to work under Kate. Kate begins to feel threatened by Nick, because he has a different style of running the kitchen. Nick loves to listen to opera when he cooks and to make the staff laugh. With all that is going on in Kates life, falling for a man is the last thing she was looking for. There is some kind of chemistry between Kate and Nick that can only go one way. Yet life will hit her in the head when Kates boss offers Nick the head chef job.

My review: I think i just saw the most BORING movie ever. It’s the kind of movie where it gets you more confused than entertained — kasi hindi mo talaga alam kung ano ba ang conflict ng movie. It’s bland and ordinary. Blech. Waste of time and money. Kung hindi lang kami nagpapatay ng oras nung Byernes e i might have demanded a refund. LOLZ. Ay one thing i liked in this movie pala is yung kung pano magsuot ng apron si CZJ. Hehehe. Babaw ko no.
